ExpressVPN is a VPN company located in the British Virgin Islands that provides secure and anonymous internet access using their 3,000 servers based in 94 countries.

I have rated it as one of the best VPNs for streaming Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and BBC iPlayer because of their ability to successful unblock geo-restricted content on these platforms.

There servers are also pretty fast as well as able to bypass the great firewall of China.

What ExpressVPN lacks is a dedicated IP and an ad blocker.

That being said, it is one of the vpns that have undergone an independent audit to prove that they do not keep logs that can be used to identify you.

Remember I didn’t say that the audit proved no-logs.

Here are the logs that ExpressVPN keeps about you that most reviewers don’t mention because they want a big commission.

After reading deeply into their privacy policy, I established that while they do not keep logs of your real IP address or DNS queries, BUT they keep logs of your connection timestamps (without the exact hour), total bandwidth usage and your actual ISP.

So in the real sense of the matter ExpressVPN keep a ton of logs than other vpns do.

2. NordVPN

NordVPN is another VPN service provider based in Panama that has undergone an independent audit to ascertain their no logs claims.

It currently has 5,200 vpns servers spread out over 59 different countries, which means it’s a pretty big vpn company.

Some of its other amazing features are unblocking Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and iPlayer, dedicated IPs, ad & malware blockers, split tunnelling and will work in China.

It underwent an independent audit that revealed that there are not logs on their servers that can actually be used to identify you or tie you to certain activities on their servers.

I find NordVPN to be the most transparent vpn when it comes to the user logs policy.

To being with, they do not keep logs of your IP address, DNS queries, connection timestamps, bandwidth usage or even your ISP.

They will only keep your connection timestamps of your last connection for 15 minutes in order to implement their max of 6 connected devices.

However, all this data is cleared off their servers permanently after you disconnect from their servers.

Remember all other VPNs, except Surfshark, claim to limit connected devices to a certain number but don’t explain how they do that.

3. PureVPN

PureVPN is another audited no logs VPN that you may love or hate depending on which part of their story you want to focus on.

It is a VPN service provider located in Hong Kong and currently has a collection of over 2,000 servers based in 140 different countries.

Some of its features that stand out are unblocking of all major streaming platforms, limited support for torrenting on certain servers as well as the ability to bypass China’s firewall.

That being said, it has cooperated with authorities in the past and shared personal identifying information, or better put, user logs of one of their customers.

They did this despite having claimed to keep no logs.

However, after this major fiasco, PureVPN was acquired and the new company updated their privacy policy to state that they do not keep logs of your IP address or DNS queries.

In addition to that PureVPN underwent an independent audit of their server software and configurations.

According to the results of this audit, PureVPN does not keep any logs that can be used to identify any one particular individual or track back certain activities on their servers to you.

That being said, PureVPN still keep logs.

PureVPN will keep logs of the IP of the VPN server that you connect to, your location when connecting to their servers, your bandwidth usage as well as your ISP.

Again, just like ExpressVPN, that’s a ton of logs to keep about me… even if an audit claims it can’t be used to identify who I am.

4. CyberGhost

CyberGhost is a VPN company that provides you with unlimited and secure access to the internet using their huge collection of 8,000 VPNs servers in 89 countries.

It is one of the vpns that have undergone an independent audit that you will actually like, just like NordVPN.

Some of the CyberGhost features that stand out for me are their support for dedicated IPs, excellent streaming capabilities, refined split tunnelling and torrenting support.

This VPN company underwent an independent audit by a third party that proved that they actually do not keep any personal identifying logs.

So even if you download torrent files on CyberGhost servers, you have nothing to worry about as your downloads are completely private and anonymous… so the government cannot come after you with a  lawsuit.

When it comes to their user logs policy, they actually do not keep logs… though I would challenge them to then explain how they implement the 7 max connected devices.

I read their privacy policy and established that CyberGhost does not keep logs of your real IP address, DNS queries, connection timestamps or even session durations.

Clearly they keep very little information about you.

What a relief?

5. VyprVPN

Next on this list of the top audited no logs vpns is VyprVPN.

VyprVPN is a VPN service provider located in Switzerland, with a collection of over 700 VPN servers spread out in 70 different countries.

Its best features include unblocking of Netflix, Hulu, iPlayer and Amazon Prime.

Even though their internet speeds are not the best, it has ad blockers, malware blockers, supports anonymous torrenting and will work in China.

That being said, it underwent an independent third-party audit that established that there are no logs on VyprVPN servers that can identify any particular individual or tie them to any activities on particular servers at any particular time.

But is important to note that this vpn used to keep user logs before.

They only changed their stand on user logs after listening to complaints from their user base… which means they are few of those VPNs that have ears that function.

Initially, they would keep logs of your real IP address, connection timestamp and bandwidth usage.

After updating their privacy policy, VyprVPN does not keep your IP address, timestamps or bandwidth usage anymore.

I would ask you to run away as fast as you can from a vpn that keeps anything close to your real IP address like Hidemyass. You can now be completely anonymous on VyprVPN servers.

6. Surfshark

Surfshark is a vpn company that is located in the privacy friendly British Virgin Islands.

It currently has 1,040 vpn servers based in 61 different countries, which is quite a progress considering it is a rather new player in the vpn industry.

Among its best features are excellent streaming support, fast speeds, anonymous torrenting, ad blockers, static IPs, split tunnelling and bypassing China’s firewall.

It went ahead to quickly clear its name by undergoing an independent audit that proved that they do not keep any logs that can be used to reveal who you are or what you are doing on their servers.

After reading their privacy policy in-depth, I also established that Surfshark does keep logs of your IP address, your server connection timestamps or even bandwidth usage.

However, after digging deeper, I established that Surfshark does keep your real IP address when you visit their website.

Even though the IP that they collect when you visit any of their web pages is not tied to your vpn account in any way, it is good for you to know that they have this information.

So if you don’t want them to, you should access their website while connected to another vpn server… like I do.

7. Tunnelbear

Tunnelbear is a vpn company located in Canada that also does a great job at providing secure internet access.

Currently, they only have a small collection of 900 servers located in just 22 countries.

So clearly Tunnelbear does not do a great job of spreading out their servers to cover a wide geographical region.

It is a rather average VPN service provider and so is not able to unblock any of the popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or even BBC iPlayer.

Support for P2P file sharing on Tunnelbear servers is also not clear as there is no mention of this on their website.

On the flip side, they offer fast connection speeds and truly secure internet access using the tamper proof military grade AES 256-bit encryption technology.

It underwent an independent audit that also established that they do not keep any logs on their servers that can be used to identity you or the sites that you actually visit when connected to their servers.

But that does not give the full story.

While Tunnelbear states in their privacy policy that they do not keep logs of your internet activities, they do keep logs of your total bandwidth usage.

This is especially important to them if you are running the free version that limits your total bandwidth usage to 500MB/month.

8. iVPN

iVPN is a vpn company located in Gibraltar that provides secure and anonymous access to the internet.

They have servers spread out in 32 different countries, even though they do not publicly disclose the total number of servers that they have.

It is one of the vpns that have been audited by an independent third party security firm and has been established to not keep logs of your activities.

One of its main features that stand out is its ability to provide secure internet access using tough encryption technologies and support for anonymous payments methods through cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

That being said, its features are still trailing behind some of the most popular brands like NordVPN and ExpressVPN.

Another issue with iVPN is that their servers are not that well distributed across the globe.

In fact, at the time of writing this review of the best audited no logs vpns, iVPN does not have any servers in Africa and only a handful of locations in Asia.

Most of their vpn servers are concentrated in the United States and Europe.

9. Private Internet Access

PIA is a VPN company located in the United States that provides secure access to the internet and as well as unblocking of geo-restricted content on Netflix.

Currently, they have 3,340 vpn servers that they have spread out in 32 different countries.

Even though its streaming support is limited to Netflix, it has great connection speeds and is one of the fastest VPNs.

I have included PIA in this list, not because it has actually been audited, but because they have been subpoenaed by the US court to provide logs for certain users.

And in both cases, they were not able to provide any logs associated with the specific users in question because they did not have any logs on their servers to give.

Since the US has laws that obligate VPN companies to comply when the government asks for user logs through a court order, it is very unlikely that Private Internet Access would opt to sit on users logs that they actually had in both scenarios.

This would be an offence.

So from these two cases, I would confidently say that Private Internet Access is a no logs vpn… even though this was proved in a slightly different manner.

In addition to that, PIA also states in their privacy policy that they do not keep user logs of your activities.

10. Perfect Privacy

Perfect Private is a vpn service provider with their base in Switzerland that provides anonymous access to the internet using their servers based in 26 different countries.

One of their best features is the multiphop feature that bounces your traffic over 4 different servers to ensure that you are completely untraceable and invisible to your ISP and government.

Even though it is a vpn that I have not tested and reviewed before on this blog, I established that it is also one the vpns whose no logs claims have been proved in a manner similar to Private Internet Access.

Their vpn servers were seized in Netherlands by the authorities looking for particular user logs.

Unfortunately, the authorities could not find any logs that could be used to identify any particular person on those servers… just like the ExpressVPN servers that were confisticated in Turkey.

So even though they have not undergone an independent audit of their own, this is one of the best ways to establish if the no logs claims a vpn makes are really true…

By catching them off guard and finding out for yourself.
