About

CyberGhost is a VPN company that enables you to access the internet completely anonymously and privately. It is based in Romania.

Here is a complete CyberGhost review.

VyprVPN is a VPN service provide, owned by GoldenFrog, and based in Switzerland that enables you to access geo-restricted content on platforms like Netflix and Hulu.

Here is the link to an in depth review of VyprVPN.

Server Collection

How many servers does VyprVPN and CyberGhost have?

In order to have loads evenly spread out so that certain servers are not overburdened, a vpn needs to have a huge collection of servers.

If the servers are also spread out in different countries, it makes it easier to find an appropriate server near you.

CyberGhost has a collection of 2,000 servers based in 89 different countries at the time of writing this CyberGhost vs VyprVPN comparison.

VyprVPN, on the other hand, only has a total of 700 servers that are located in 70 different countries.

It is therefore clear that CyberGhost has a larger collection of servers and covers a wide geographical region than VyprVPN.

If you are looking for a vpn that has servers in more countries then I recommend CyberGhost.

Streaming

I started this CyberGhost vs VyprVPN comparison by mentioning that they are great for streaming.

But how does CyberGhost vs VyprVPN streaming capabilities compare?

Let’s now look at the particular streaming platforms that each of these vpns is capable of unblocking.

CyberGhost is able to unblock Netflix libraries in various countries including the US, UK, Brazil and Japan.

In order to access Netflix you just need to connect to a server based in these countries because these streaming servers are not labelled.

In addition to Netflix, CyberGhost is also able to stream content from Hulu and BBC iPlayer.

VyprVPN, on the flip side, is also able to streaming various Netflix libraries in different countries.

Again, just like CyberGhost, their streaming servers are not labelled so you just need to connect to a server based in the country whose content you want to access and then launch your Netflix app.

In addition to Netflix, VyprVPN also lets you stream a variety of other streaming platforms that include Hulu, Amazon Prime and BBC iPlayer.

As you can see, VyprVPN has better streaming support because it is able to unblock more streaming platforms than CyberGhost.

If you are looking for a vpn that is great for streaming then I recommend VyprVPN.

Speeds

If you want to be able to stream video content in their original qualities then you need a vpn with great connection speeds.

How does VyprVPN vs CyberGhost speeds compare?

In order to test the speeds of both CyberGhost and VyprVPN, I connected to three of their server based in the US, UK and Hong Kong.

I then used speedtest.net to test for the upload, download and ping before and after connecting to their servers.

CyberGhost had an average connection speed that was 83% of my original download speeds.

VyprVPN, however, did not perform as great because it was only able to deliver download speeds that were 79% on average of my initial download speeds.

Since I consider 80% to be the minimum for a vpn with great connection speed, I think VyprVPN is a vpn with average connection speeds.

If you are looking for a vpn that will deliver faster connection speeds, then I recommend CyberGhost.

Torrenting

Law enforcement is dealing a heavy hand on copyright infringement offenders.

You don’t want to be caught downloading copyrighted material from torrenting sites.

In order to stay safe and anonymous ensure you only download torrent files after connecting to either a proxy server or a vpn server.

How does CyberGhost vs VyprVPN torrenting support compare?

CyberGhost supports torrenting but only if your connect to their special P2P optimized servers.

In order to access these P2P servers, click on the torrenting tab in the app menu so that you get a list of torrenting servers to connect to.

VyprVPN on the flip side, supports torrenting on all their servers.

So you don’t need to connect to any special P2P servers before you start torrenting because all their servers are P2P enabled.

It therefore looks like VyprVPN has better support for torrenting than CyberGhost.

If you are looking for a vpn that has better support for torrenting on all their servers then I recommend VyprVPN.

Privacy Policy

You want to ensure that a vpn is not secretly keeping logs of information that could be used to identify you or connect you to certain activities on their servers.

It starts by reading their privacy policies back to back to ensure there are no hidden clauses that could be used to screw you over.

How does VyprVPN vs CyberGhost compare in terms of their privacy policies.

Let’s now compare these two vpns in order to establish the one that offers you try privacy online.

CyberGhost is based in Romania which is privacy friendly place for a vpn.

This country does not have mandatory data retention laws that obligate vpn companies to keep logs of their users.

In addition to that, CyberGhost states in their privacy policy that they do not keep logs of your IP address, connection timestamp or session duration.

So there are no logs on their servers that could be used to identify you.

VyprVPN also is based in Switzerland which is great place to base a vpn because this country does not form part of the 14 eyes countries surveillance alliance.

In addition to that, VyprVPN also states in their privacy policy that they do not keep logs of your IP address, connection timestamp or bandwidth usage.

It is therefore clear that neither CyberGhost nor VyprVPN keep logs that can be used to identify you.

If you are looking for a vpn with a great no logs policy then either CyberGhost or VyprVPN is a great option.

Encryption and Data Protection

In order to protect your data online,  a vpn needs to encrypt your data in a format that is impossible to crack.

This is because once data leaves your devices it not guaranteed that it will only reach your server because other software could be used to divert your traffic without even knowing it.

It should make it impossible to for these malicious traffic hijackers to decrypt and see the actual information.

CyberGhost and VyprVPN both use a military grade 256-bit encryption to secure your information online.

Since this encryption technology is impossible to crack, it is the closest you can get to true security with vpns in 2021.

In addition to these encryption technologies, they also use certain encryption technologies to ensure that your data is securely transmitted to its destination machine.

CyberGhost supports two of the most secure protocols: OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocols.

VyprVPN, on the other hand, supports OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec and Chameleon connection protocols.

The Chameleon protocol is particularly handy when you need to access in restricted countries like China.

Overall, both VyprVPN and CyberGhost offer you the best data encryption and data protection technologies out there.

If you are looking for a vpn that guarantees your security online, then I recommend either CyberGhost or VyprVPN.

Ad Blockers

Do you wish you were able to block ads on certain websites that you visit?

This is a very common feeling among internet users these days because most websites are very aggressive with ads that leads to a very poor user experience.

Even though these could be getting their revenue purely from ads, nobody likes such aggressive advertising.

Sometimes they even track you and follow you around the web with the same ad.

CyberGhost and VyprVPN both have an inbuilt ad blocker in their apps.

Once turned on, this vpn ad blocker will enable you to have an ad free browsing experience by blocking ads on most of these websites completely.

It will also block their ability to track you, build a profile of you and then follow you around.

In addition to ad blockers, these apps also have malware blockers that will protect you from known malware infected websites online.

If you are looking for a vpn with an inbuilt ad blocker then either CyberGhost or VyprVPN is a great option.

Dedicated IPs

Every time you connect to the internet using your vpn, you’ll be assigned a shared IP address.

Since this IP is used by thousands of other users, it makes it hard to trace back certain activities on this particular server to you.

Which is great for your anonymity online.

However, there are some sensitive applications that you cannot access with a shared IP address.

You need a dedicated IP that you can first whitelist in these applications in order for you to have a secure remote access.

Think of your work network or your home security camera feed.

CyberGhost will provide you with a dedicated IP that you can purchase separated and use for this purpose.

It is an IP that is available only to you and is not shared by anyone… so chances that it could be abused are minimal.

VyprVPN, unfortunately, does not support any kind of dedicated IPs at the time I was writing this CyberGhost vs VyprVPN comparison.

If you are looking for a vpn that supports a dedicated IP then I recommend CyberGhost.

Remember, though, that since this IP is tied to your account any activities on this IP could easily to traced back to you.

So I don’t recommend you use a dedicated IP for controversial activities like torrenting.

Kill Switch

If you want to never reveal your IP to the public, you should never access the internet without first connecting to your vpn.

It is during the few seconds when you let your guard down that you get caught.

Since your IP is revealed anytime that your vpn disconnects from the servers and some applications continue to access the internet…

The best way to ensure this does not happen is to have an automatic internet kill switch that will block your internet access for your entire device anytime that your vpn app disconnects from the server.

CyberGhost and VyprVPN both have inbuilt kill switches in their apps that will force all your internet access to be through your vpn tunnel.

This kill switch ensures that no other apps will continue to access the internet in case you are disconnected from the vpn server.

If you are looking for a vpn with a  great kill switch then either VyprVPN or CyberGhost will do.

Split Tunnelling

Once you turn on your vpn all your traffic is encrypted and channelled through your vpn tunnel.

What if you need to exempt certain applications for whatever reason?

Maybe your banking app keeps blocking your whenever you try to login with an IP based in different country that your vpn assigns you.

In this case, you need a vpn that supports split tunnelling.

A split tunnel enables you to whitelist certain applications to be exempted from having their traffic encrypted and channelled through your vpn tunnel.

These applications are instead made to have their traffic flow as usual through your ISP.

CyberGhost has a split tunnel that enables you to specify certain websites and exclude them from your vpn.

So whenever you access these websites, your traffic will not be passed through your vpn but will go through your ISP as usual.

You could use this to whitelist your internet banking website.

VyprVPN, unfortunately, does not have a split tunnel at the time of writing this VyprVPN vs CyberGhost comparison.

Applications specified in your vpn split tunnel will not enjoy the additional security and anonymity that a vpn provides.

If you are looking for a vpn that supports split tunneling then I recommend CyberGhost.

Works in China?

How does CyberGhost vs VyprVPN compare in terms of their ability to bypass the great firewall of China?

Being able to bypass the deep packet inspection technology of the great firewall of China is no easy feat for  most vpns services.

Since this firewall is great at detecting and blocking vpn traffic, especially those that use the OpenVPN protocol, that most vpns use, most vpns will be detected and blocked.

In order for a vpn to be able to fly under the radar and access censored content in China undetected, it needs to be able to make its traffic look like normal https traffic.

CyberGhost, unfortunately, is not able to obfuscated its traffic and make ti undetectable by the firewall.

So CyberGhost vpn is completely blocked and will not work in China at all.

VyprVPN, like I mentioned in the data protection section, has a Chameleon protocol that enables you to access internet in China.

In order to access internet in restricted countries like China using VyprVPN, you first need to connect with the Chameleon protocol.

It then makes your vpn traffic undetectable by the firewall, hence allowing uninterrupted access to censored content like Facebook.com while in China.

If you are looking for a vpn that will work in China then I recommend VyprVPN.

Pricing

As we near the end of this VyprVPN vs CyberGhost comparison in 2021, let’s compare their cheapest pricing options to establish the cheaper one.

In order to get the best discount with either CyberGhost or VyprVPN you need to select their longest subscription plan.

CyberGhost has a 3 years subscription plan that costs $ 2.75/month while VyprVPN has a 2 years subscription plan that sets you back $ 2.71/month.

It is therefore evident that both CyberGhost and VyprVPN cost pretty much the same.

However, CyberGhost offers you a longer subscription plan so that you don’t have to worry about renewing your vpn subscription every year that passes.

If you are looking for a cheap vpn, then either VyprVPN or CyberGhost are really budget friendly vpns.

Payment Options

Let’s finish this CyberGhost vs VyprVPN comparison by looking at the payments methods that you can use to pay for your plan.

If a vpn is really serious about making you anonymous online, they’ll provide with anonymous payment methods.

These payments allow you to give as little information about you as possible because they do not require your billing or street address.

CyberGhost supports payments through all major credit cards, PayPal and Bitcoin payments.

VyprVPN, unfortunately, only supports payments through credit cards and platforms like PayPal.

It does not support Bitcoin.

If you are looking for a vpn that support Bitcoin payments then i recommend CyberGhost.

In Conclusion

I hope this CyberGhost vs VyprVPN comparison has helped you learn about the strengths and weaknesses of these two vpns.

Are you now ready to make a choice between either CyberGhost or VyprVPN?

If you are looking for a vpn with excellent streaming capabilities, supports torrenting on all their servers and works in China then I recommend VyprVPN.

However, if you are looking for a vpn with a bigger server collection, excellent connection speeds and provides you with a dedicated IP then I recommend CyberGhost.
